When I moved back to Reno in 2024, after graduating college, I began to take interest in the local art and music scene. The main venue I spend my time at is the Holland Project. Holland is a local non-profit art and music venue that has a two gallery and show spaces. Within those spaces they invite bands and fine artists to showcase their work. Over time I’ve gradually met artists in the community that have become some of my closest friends and favorite people. Many of them inspire me every day! I’ve had the amazing opportunity to be a part of the scene through my works, and I’ve never felt more fulfilled by my environment.

Through going to shows and making art for the Holland I have been able to meet countless bands and creatives, who have shared their process and interests with me. I feel extremely supported by my community and would not have had the opportunities that I have if not for the recommendations from Alana Berglund and Gina Hoang.

My friends Dylon Hinchey and Steven Talavera started a local interview radio and youtube show where they talk with local and touring artists. The show is recorded and aired through radio station KWNK 97.7, located next to (and regularly in collaboration with) the Holland project. These boys pulled me out of a deep depressive episode through consistently encouraging me to go with them to shows and tag along to interviews. Their show is called Cryptid Cave Productions, and they approach interviewing from an extremely personal as well as silly perspective. Ranging from questions specific to each band member, ghost stories, and curiosity about the band’s creative process, these boys really get down. They have given me the opportunity to hop on the team through networking and helping with manning the camera, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

The Holland Project is a staple in the Reno music and art scene, and it provides a sober, safe space for all ages. Anytime you are in town, come check it out. I promise it’s worth your while, and you will definitely meet some lovely new faces!
